Registration of new patient
If you are coming to PGI for the first time, you must make internal medicine OPD card. This card is made daily (except Sundays and National Holidays). The doctor in Internal Medicine OPD can refer you directly to Dept of Clinical Hematology if you have a referral slip from your family physician or any other doctor who has examined you before and feels that you need to be reviewed by a Hematologist. If you do not carry referral slip or otherwise also, the physician in internal medicine OPD may examine you and prescribe a few blood tests to be done from PGI laboratory. Once you are referred on the medicine card, you need to register for a hematology referral at the registration desk on the days and timings as mentioned.
Registration of patient who is referred from other depts of PGI:
You need to register your card for hematology referral from the registration desk on the given days and registration timings.
In an emergency, you can report to emergency medical OPD 24 hours a day in Nehru Hospital. However, the emergency is generally overcrowded, so register to emergency only if it is a true emergency.
